Dr. Douglas Ayres is an orthopaedic surgeon specializing in joint replacement and reconstructive surgery of the hip and knee. He is an Assistant Professor in Orthopaedic Surgery at Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Ayres earned his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine. He completed a surgical internship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and then completed the Harvard Combined Orthopaedic Residency Program at Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston Childrens Hospital and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. After residency he completed two orthopaedic fellowships at Massachusetts General Hospital: one in orthopaedic trauma, the other in adult joint reconstruction.
Dr. Ayres is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the Massachusetts Orthopaedic Association. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
