Dr. Kurzweil is an internationally recognized Orthopaedic Surgeon with expertise in arthroscopic or reconstructive surgery of the knee and shoulder, and the treatment of athletic injuries. Dr. Kurzweil is a summa cum laude graduate of Amherst College, where he played tennis and squash. As a medical student at the University of Rochester, N.Y., he was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) medical honor society, and completed his Orthopaedic residency at the Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in New York. Following completion of the prestigious sports medicine fellowship at the Southern California Center for Sports Medicine in Long Beach, Calif., Dr. Kurzweil joined the practice, where he is served as Fellowship Director for ten years. He served as Chairman of the Department of Orthopaedics at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center for four years. He is the Orthopedic Team Physician for California State University, Long Beach.
He has published numerous articles and book chapters, and is a frequent speaker at national and international meetings. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, and has a Certificate of Added Quality in Sports Medicine.
