Knee pain

The first step to relief is understanding the source

Osteoarthritis is one of the leading causes of pain and disability in the knee.1 This occurs when the protective cartilage that cushions the end of your bones breaks down, causing the bones within the joint to rub together. If you’ve been living with knee pain, get the care you deserve.

Contact your doctor if you are experiencing these symptoms:2

  • Gradual increase in pain
  • Swelling or tenderness
  • Buckling and locking
  • Cracking or popping sounds
  • Poor range of motion
  • Deformities of the knee

Where treatment begins3

Treatment for knee osteoarthritis often begins with a combination of:

  • Exercise
  • Weight loss
  • Physical therapy
  • Pain medications
  • Knee braces
  • Joint injections (corticosteroids or hyaluronic acid) and/or nutritional supplements

(Exact regimen will differ from patient to patient)

RFA may be a treatment option

Genicular RFA is an option for treating knee pain without surgery. By selectively applying radiofrequency energy to the nerves surrounding the knee, providers can help relieve knee pain due to osteoarthritis. The entire procedure is performed outside the knee joint and may be used for patients that have failed conservative and surgical treatments or are not candidates for surgery.4
