Dr. Hannon is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine surgery and joint replacement, including shoulder arthroscopy, hip arthroscopy, and knee arthroscopy as well as shoulder replacement, hip replacement, partial knee replacement, and total knee replacement surgery.
A native of New Rochelle, NY, Dr. Hannon attended Regis High School, an all scholarship Jesuit school in Manhattan, NY. Dr. Hannon graduated with honors from the University of Notre Dame with a BS in mechanical engineering and was elected to the Pi Tau Sigma honor society. He received his MD from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, NY, where he was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society.
Dr. Hannon completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases in New York City. While in residency, he received extensive training in joint replacement surgery, as NYU HJD is one of the busiest joint replacement centers in the country. He also received a comprehensive education in orthopedic trauma care at Bellevue Hospital and the Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, the two busiest level 1 trauma centers in NYC.
Dr. Hannon went on to complete his sports medicine fellowship at the renowned Kerlan-Jobe Orthopedic Clinic, in Los Angeles, CA. As a sports medicine fellow at Kerlan-Jobe, Dr. Hannon served as an assistant team physician for the Los Angeles Lakers, LA Kings, Anaheim Ducks, Anaheim Angels, LA Sparks, USC Football, LA Kiss Arena football, and various local junior college and high school football programs.
Dr. Hannon has published multiple articles in journals such as the American Journal of Sports Medicine, Arthroscopy, and the Journal of Arthroplasty. He co-authored a textbook chapter on shoulder arthroscopy and has presented at the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery national meeting on reverse total shoulder replacement. He is a member of the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine and the Arthroscopy Association of North America.
In his free time, he enjoys being with his wife and two sons, Martin and Jack. His hobbies include running, cycling, swimming, snowboarding and scuba diving. He and his wife, Dr. Mary Hannon, recently participated in a medical mission trip to the Holy Family Surgery Center, where Dr. Hannon performed arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery for the underserved people of Honduras.
