I received my medical degree and post graduate training in orthopedic surgery from University of Kerala. I was awarded a traveling fellowship to the U.S. to visit the Mayo Clinic in 2005. In 2006, I earned my masters in public health at the Southern Illinois University. I then joined Cedars Sinai Medical Center, Los Angeles, for my general surgery internship. After graduating from Cedars Sinai Medical Center, I moved to Boston University where I completed an orthopedic surgery residency training. I am specialized in hip and knee replacement surgery through a fellowship training in adult reconstruction from the University of Louisville.
I am one of the world's foremost experts in the field of orthopedic public health and patient education and have led research in this field at University of Medicine and Dentistry, New Jersey (now Rutgers University) and at the Cedars Sinai Medical Center. My research papers have been cited by the National Institutes of Health, its equivalent, the National Institute for Health Research in the UK and more than 200 times by other scientists in their research publications.
I am a highly specialized orthopedic surgeon. I have a clinical practice focused on hip and knee reconstructive surgery. I have a specific interest in comprehensive care of the arthritis in hip and knee joints. This encompasses primary and revision hip and knee replacement surgeries. I perform both anterior hip replacement as well as the traditional posterior hip replacement.
I am committed to providing the highest quality orthopedic care in a caring and supportive setting. Because I am highly specialized in these areas, I am able to provide the highest level of care. I am knowledgeable of the latest advances that will benefit patients and I actively conduct research to advance the field.
My areas of expertise include primary total hip and knee replacements, complex revision surgery, partial knee replacements, recall hip and knee surgery, as well as fracture care of the hip and knee joints.
I have a special interest and training in orthopedic public health and have conducted research on performance of joint replacement implants and has written numerous articles for prestigious peer-reviewed medical journals. My current research focuses on reducing the risk of infection after surgery and on how to improve the lifespan of joint replacements.
I welcome all patients, being part of the University of Kentucky as a faculty enables me to take care of patients from all financial and insurance backgrounds.
