Dr. Werger is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and the chief of Arthroplasty at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center. He is fellowship-trained in hip and knee replacement, with a particular interest in primary and revision procedures. He earned his medical degree from Georgetown University and completed a residency in orthopedic surgery at Rutgers – Robert Wood Johnson in New Brunswick, New Jersey. He then completed a fellowship in Hip and Knee Reconstruction at Florida Orthopedic Institute in Tampa. He has additional specialty training in robotic and computer-assisted joint replacement surgery. He uses the minimally-invasive, muscle-sparing anterior approach for hip replacements to return patients more quickly back to their active lives.
After completing his residency in 2012, Dr. Werger joined the Air Force as an orthopedic surgeon and served overseas in South Korea and Germany. He holds an academic appointment with the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. Dr. Werger has authored numerous orthopedic articles in leading journals, and he lectures both locally and internationally. He is actively involved in research to improve patient care and outcomes.
