Jeff Headrick, M.D. is a Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon. He is fellowship trained in Adult Hip and Knee replacement surgery as well as the latest techniques for the young arthritic patient. He also has extensive experience in shoulder and knee arthroscopy, ACL Reconstruction and other Sports Medicine techniques.
Dr. Headrick, a native of Sweetwater, Texas, joined The Center for Orthopedic Surgery in Lubbock, Texas after serving twenty years in the U.S. Navy. He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy with a B.S. in Ocean Engineering. He was a nuclear engineer officer in the submarine service for five years. After graduation from Texas Tech Medical School, he completed internship at Balboa Naval Hospital in San Diego, CA and the Phoenix Orthopedic Residency Program in Phoenix, AZ. He served as an orthopedic surgeon with the US Marines at Camp Lejeune, NC overseas at U.S. Naval Hospital Guam, U.S. Naval Hospital Portsmouth and aboard hospital ship USNS Comfort during wartime.
Dr. Headrick completed advanced studies in Reconstructive Joint Replacement Surgery as an Otto E. Aufranc Fellow at the highly acclaimed New England Baptist Hospital in Boston, MA. The yearlong fellowship included state of the art early intervention techniques for arthritis in association with Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women’s Hospital, also in Boston, MA. He utilizes the latest technology with regard to surgical technique and implants.
Dr. Headrick introduced and performed the first Direct Anterior Approach to Hip replacement in Lubbock, TX November 28, 2011. This is a minimally invasive approach that provides for a quicker recovery with excellent pain relief. Dr. Headrick pioneered the first use of robotics in orthopedic surgery in Lubbock, TX. This was a partial knee replacement done robotically on June 9, 2014. He has expanded to robotic total knee arthroplasty, robotic partial knee arthroplasty and robotic total hip arthroplasty.
