Adult Reconstruction of the Hip and Knee The CORE Institute - Phoenix, AZ
Mark W. Allen, D.O. returns to Las Vegas to join Nevada Orthopedic & Spine Center after
completing his training and first years of practice in Phoenix, Arizona. He specializes in adult
reconstructive surgery of the hip and knee including both primary and revision surgeries. Dr.
Allen has a particular focus on the latest techniques including direct anterior total hip
replacement, computer-assisted navigation, and robotic arm assisted surgery.
Dr. Allen received a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology from Weber State University in 2005, earning the Outstanding Graduate Award from the department. In 2010, he received a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Touro University in Henderson, NV, earning the Dean’s Award for Academic Achievement.
Dr. Allen then completed his internship and orthopedic surgical residency at Michigan State University – St. John Providence Health System, where he was elected chief resident during his senior year and received the Orthopedic Surgery Resident of the Year award.
Dr. Allen spent an additional year of subspecialty fellowship training in adult reconstructive surgery of the hip and knee with a focus on cutting-edge techniques, evidence-based practice protocols, and revision surgeries of the hip and knee in Phoenix, AZ. He subsequently joined that practice and spent the last two years working at a busy level one trauma center.
He enjoys talking to and educating his patients about their conditions and including them in their treatment decisions.
Dr. Allen has been published on various research topics including perioperative blood product and transfusion management, perioperative patient temperature management, and robotic-assisted arthroplasty. He has presented his research both locally and at national orthopedic meetings.
Dr. Allen was born in Ogden, UT. He and his wife met during medical school and they are excited to return to practice in Las Vegas. In his free time, he enjoys golfing, hiking, attending sporting events, and snow skiing.
