Dr. Hehemann, DPM, FACFAS is a Foot & Ankle Specialist at Balance Foot & Ankle, treating each patient as if they were a part of his own family.
Dr. Hehemann is Board Certified in Foot Surgery by the American Board of Foot & Ankle Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Foot & Ankle Surgeons. A graduate of the Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine, Dr. Hehemann completed his surgical residency at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation and Mercy Health, here in Cleveland. He has received extensive training in reconstructive foot and ankle surgery serving as Chief Resident during his final year of residency as well as spending several years practicing at a private practice in Michigan before joining the Balance Foot & Ankle team.
As an attending physician for the podiatry residency program at Genesys Regional Medical Center in Michigan, Dr. Hehemann was awarded “Podiatric Attending of the Year” in 2017, and “Educator of the Year” in 2018. In addition to education, Dr. Hehemann has special interests in limb preservation, wound treatment, sports medicine and diabetic foot care. His intrinsic desire to provide care for others is what made Dr. Hehemann pursue a career in healthcare. The varying routine of podiatry is what attracted him to the field and keeps him on his toes today.
Dr. Hehemann is thrilled to be back home in Cleveland and to be partnering with his former mentor, Dr. Mark Hardy, sharing a common goal of ensuring both patients and the issue at hand are treated through a patient-centered approach. Matching treatment to the patient’s lifestyle, Dr. Hehemann aims to keep the patient’s quality of life at its peak by offering solutions that allow each patient to live the way they want and deserve. With a passion for education, Dr. Hehemann remains heavily involved with the Mercy Health Podiatry Residency Program where he is able to share his knowledge with new physicians.
Outside of work, Dr. Hehemann, his wife, Gloria, and their son, enjoy the outdoors, boating, skiing and hiking as well as fishing together.
To keep feet happy, Dr. Hehemann recommends the replacement of shoes in a timely fashion. To keep the ankle joint flexible, he suggests stretching or finding exercises that match your lifestyle.
