"I was the second doctor to join South County Orthopedics in 1988. Spending most of my career here speaks volumes regarding my belief in our practice and all we do for patients. My professional interest is in joint replacement utilizing the latest proven technologies of minimally invasive and robotic surgical procedures. These include hip resurfacing, knee resurfacing, total hip replacement and total knee replacement. I utilize the latest technology in hopes of achieving optimal results for patients of all ages. I attended URI as an undergraduate. After having taken a variety of courses, I eventually settled on pre-med. I found this major to be best suited to my interests. I continued with medical school at Cornell University. I first became interested in orthopedic surgery while at Cornell. I had the privilege of working with Dr. Insal on my knee service as a student as well as working with Dr. Warren during my sports rotation. Both of these doctors were innovators of knee surgery. Meeting these two people and the influence they had on me was the determining factor in my specializing in orthopedic surgery. After graduating medical school, I spent two years at the Roosevelt Hospital in general surgery. I continued my passion for orthopedics and returned to the Hospital for Special Surgery for completion of my orthopedic training. Following this, I relocated to Rhode Island in 1988 and joined South County Orthopedics. I am very privileged to do what I do to improve patient’s lives, to relieve pain and to increase activity and mobility. I make them better and get them back to what they want to do. That is very rewarding for me. I find every one of my patients to be inspirational. Their recoveries are all different and impact their lives in different ways. While sports have been an important part of my professional life, it is equally important in my personal life. I am an avid runner, surfer, paddle boarder and snow boarder. I think having orthopedic and sports medicine, physical therapy and training all here at South County Orthopedics is a great advantage for patients and for us doctors as well. Modern medicine can be a disconnected process. We try to make it more convenient for the patient. From my perspective, it makes it easier to deliver a higher quality of care. Certainly a lot has changed since I first joined South County Orthopedics. But I am glad to say it has grown and changed for the better."
