No two people are the same and each individual deserves a personalized approach to their health care. Every patient has a goal, whether it be to get through their day with less pain or returning to the sport they love, and it is my privilege to help them achieve that goal. I try to maximize non-surgical methods whenever possible. When a patient does require surgery, I will take time to ensure they understand the planned procedure and recovery process. I realize there is a lot of anxiety associated with injury and surgery. By educating my patients about their diagnosis and including them in the decision-making process, we all feel more comfortable. In every encounter, I aspire to treat all with dignity and respect.
Growing up on the sidelines as the son of a high school football coach and the middle of three brothers, I developed a passion for sports and competition. I was fortunate enough to play Division 1 lacrosse at the Air Force Academy. Unfortunately, I had several of my own injuries resulting in three surgeries during those four years. Despite the setbacks of injury, surgery and rehabilitation, that experience sparked an interest in orthopedic surgery and made me who I am today.
Early in my career as an Air Force orthopedic surgeon, I was drawn to both sports medicine and foot and ankle surgery. I was fortunate enough to be able to complete fellowship training in both specialties. I take great pride in providing care to those who have pledged to serve our country, and I’ve had the privilege of treating some of our nation’s most elite warriors and athletes. With over a decade of experience taking care of active and retired members of our military and their families, I’m now looking forward to continuing to serve the Colorado Springs area.
When I’m not at work, I’m a dedicated husband and father. Although my competitive days as an athlete are in the past, I enjoy coaching and watching my children develop as supportive teammates, compassionate friends and future leaders. I will continue my military service as an Air Force Reserve Flight Surgeon at Peterson AFB and a volunteer team physician for the Air Force Academy NCAA Division 1 athletic programs.
