Eric was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska and grew up doing outdoor activities that all Alaskan’s love, namely skiing, fishing, camping, and hiking. After a brief stint working in Washington D.C. as a Senate Page & Senate Intern for Alaska, I attended the University of Southern California in the combined baccalaureate/MD program. There I met my future wife who comes from a family with a long history of Colorado physicians. In medical school at the University of Washington I graduated in the top 10% of my class with Alpha Omega Alpha honors. There I fell in love with the possibilities of restoring life and function for patients through orthopaedic surgery. I completed my surgical internship and orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Southern California. After that, I completed a surgical fellowship in Adult Reconstruction at the University of Colorado and gained additional experience in treating complex hip and knee problems. Our first son was born here in Colorado in 2021 and we are thrilled to call Denver home and to continue a family tradition of providing outstanding medical care to all Coloradans.
My specific clinical interests include hip and knee replacement using minimally invasive, muscle sparing techniques, and peri-operative optimization of medical issues to provide the quickest possible recovery and even same-day surgery in selected patients. I am a Mako certified surgeon and provide robotic total knee and partial knee replacements. Additionally, for total hip replacements I provide both the anterior and posterior approach and can customize the surgery to the individual patient’s anatomy and ensure accurate component positioning with advanced computer navigation techniques. I have additional training and interest in complex primary and revision total joint surgeries for many different indications – including loosening, infection, dislocation, patellofemoral maltracking, fracture and others. I also have several years of experience taking level 1 trauma calls and provide care for high and low energy fractures, infections, dislocations, tendon injuries and compartment syndrome. My number one clinical goal is to achieve excellent clinical outcomes for my patients. We will reach the decision to have surgery together through the process of informed shared decision making. I will listen to your questions and concerns to make sure we have fully communicated and customized the treatment plan for you specifically. My practice is open to all ages, but most of my patients are in their 40’s to 90’s with advanced degenerative joint disease. Sometimes there can be congenital or post-traumatic conditions that lead to joint replacement in younger age groups. Being younger than the typical joint replacement age does not preclude you from surgery if the disease is severe and affecting your quality of life
