Warmhearted and cheerful podiatric physician Gene Choi, DPM, enjoys providing quality, personalized podiatric care for men, women, and children at Midwest Foot and Ankle Clinics, with three locations in Hoffman Estates, Arlington Heights, and in the Norwood Park neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois.
Dr. Choi was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. During high school, his passion for medicine ignited when he worked as a patient care technician in the emergency department at Rush North Shore Medical Center in Skokie, Illinois. He continued to work in the emergency department for the next 10 years while completing his education.
Dr. Choi finished his Bachelor of Science degree in biological sciences at the University of Illinois at Chicago in the Near West Side neighborhood, and his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree at Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in North Chicago, Illinois.
Dr. Choi completed a three-year surgical residency with additional credentials in reconstructive rearfoot and ankle surgery at Rush University Medical Center on the Near West Side of Chicago, Illinois. During his third year of training, Dr. Choi was chosen by his peers and faculty to serve as chief resident. He also trained under faculty from Rush University, Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, and the University of Chicago in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois.
To share his knowledge and assist others in his field, Dr. Choi continues to be a part of the teaching faculty for the Rush residents at NorthShore University Hospitals in Chicago, Illinois.
Dr. Choi treats all conditions related to the foot and ankle, from hammertoes and bunions to complex reconstructive surgery. He is highly knowledgeable in sports medicine, trauma and wound care, and limb salvage.
Dr. Choi has a wealth of diverse experience and skills and practices evidence-based medicine. He treats the whole person and knows that the body is comprised of interconnected systems working together.
For many years, Dr. Choi has been actively involved in his local community and helps others with foot screenings and volunteering in the medical tent at the Chicago marathon. Away from the podiatric office, Dr. Choi is an avid motorsports fan and loves watching movies, reading, playing sports, and traveling to new places.
