West Virginia University Foot and Ankle Advanced Surgical Fellowship
Dr. Paulina Piekarska is a fellowship-trained foot and ankle surgeon with expertise in both operative and non-operative treatment of the lower extremity. She completed her training at the West Virginia University Wheeling Hospital Foot and Ankle Advanced Surgical Fellowship where she further subspecialized in trauma, reconstruction and revisional surgery. Prior to this, she completed her residency at Yale University School of Medicine/Yale New Haven Hospital in Podiatric Medicine and Surgery, with a focus in Reconstructive Rearfoot and Ankle Surgery. She served as Chief Resident in her final year of residency. During her final year of training, she was the sole recipient of the Gary P. Jolly Academic Achievement Award for outstanding scholarship and academic excellence, the highest honor for graduating residents. She received her medical degree from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine. A Connecticut native, Dr. Piekarska attended Quinnipiac University for undergrad majoring in Biomedical Science with a minor in Chemistry, graduating with honors. She is a board qualified member of the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery as well as an active member of the American College of Foot & Ankle Surgeons.
Dr. Piekarska treats a wide array for lower extremity conditions including flatfoot and cavus foot deformity, arthridities, sports injuries, tendon/ligament trauma, heel pain, neuromas, nerve entrapment, hammer toes and bunions. In addition to this, she is skilled in ankle arthroscopy, ultrasound-guided procedures and revisions. She has a particular interest in trauma and has presented nationally on Lisfranc and pilon injuries. Dr. Piekarska’s biggest goal is to provide the best operative and non-operative treatment for her patients, getting them back to their routine and daily life.
Born in Poland, Dr. Piekarska will gladly conduct visits in Polish. She is an avid reader, hiker, pizza-lover and enjoys spending time with friends, family and her German Shepherd, Arya.
