Dr. Everson attended medical school at Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences in Yakima, Washington. He completed his Orthopedic Surgery residency at McLaren Macomb Hospital in northeast Detroit which is part of the Michigan State University Statewide Campus. During that time Dr. Everson also studied pediatric surgery and orthopedic trauma at the Detroit Medical Center.
After residency, Dr. Everson went on to pursue a prestigious fellowship in Sports Medicine at San Diego Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy. During fellowship he worked in San Diego County and at Scripps La Jolla Hospital which is the #11 ranked orthopedic hospital in the country (US News and World Report 2019). There he worked with various sports teams and with the former team physicians of the San Diego Chargers and Padres. He worked as a team physician at San Diego State University and with the San Diego Gulls of the American Hockey League and various community colleges and high schools in San Diego County.
He has an interest in Sports Medicine including ACL reconstruction, knee and shoulder arthroscopy, anterior hip total joint surgery and MRI and CT guided knee and shoulder replacements, minimally invasive surgical techniques, cartilage restoration, and platelet and stem cell injections for various injuries and ailments. He also enjoys treating patients of all ages from the young to the elderly. He firmly believes that surgery be reserved for those that fail other nonoperative care and enjoys seeing patients heal with and without surgery. He performs total joint replacements, surgery for orthopedic trauma, hand surgery and arthroscopic procedures of the shoulder, hip and knee. He operates at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital and The Surgery Center of Fairbanks.
Dr. Everson and his wife are originally from the Fairbanks area, having grown up here in the interior. He went to North Pole High School (wife went to West Valley) and was later stationed at Fort Wainwright during his military service. He is excited to once again call Fairbanks his home. He is a proud father of five children and enjoys the outdoors, fishing, hunting, camping, hiking, snowboarding, basketball, scouting, church activities and the many talents of his children.
