              Practice philosophy:
“Black Belt Skills, White Belt Mentality” – practicing medicine with the technical precision and knowledge base expected of someone who has mastered their craft while maintaining the humility and hunger to learn of a beginner.
What are you passionate about and why?
I believe quality of life can be as important as quantity of life. I want to help patients get back to doing what they love - whether it is being functional enough again to work or participate in desired hobbies to simply walking through the grocery store or playing with grandchildren pain free.
If you weren't a health care provider, what would you be?
A chef. Knife skills are still relevant, and it comes with a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.
Why did you become a provider? When did you know this was the career for you?
I grew up on construction sites in a blue-collar town. Orthopedic surgery is much like construction work, but I can perform it in a controlled environment rather than in frigid northern winters.
What is something you have learned from your patients?
Even though arthritis looks the same on x-ray, it affects people differently. Conversations to determine limitations/frustrations and goals teach me to treat people, not images.
What is one of the challenges of this career you enjoy? And why?
I welcome the challenge to stay up to date with current research and best practices. Physicians truly need to be life-long learners, and I strive to never be complacent in my practices.
What is your personal health goal?
To never have to say no to my children due to physical limitation.
What is the best thing you've done for your health or the best health advice you've received?
“Abs are made in the kitchen.” This does not mean that everyone should have a six-pack. Rather, it highlights the importance of what we put into our bodies, especially related to orthopedic issues.
What are you most proud of?
Easily my wife, son, and daughter. Her unwavering support, sacrifices, and love have made my journey to and through medicine possible. Now we are blessed with two beautiful children. They bring me so much joy and pride every day.
What are a few of your personal achievements?
-First person in my family to go to college
-Gold Humanism Honor Society – recognition of physicians giving compassionate care
-3rd place in Vennture Brew Co’s Winter 2023 Wednesday Cribbage League
