Adult Reconstructive Joint Specialist
Dr. Courtney specializes in adult reconstruction at UHC Orthopaedics. Dr. Courtney received his medical degree from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in Lewisburg, WV, and completed an internship and orthopaedic residency at Ohio University, St. Joseph Health Center in Warren, Ohio. He completed an Adult Reconstruction Fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic, focusing on elements of total joint replacement and hip arthroscopy.
In medical school, he was named to Sigma Sigma Phi, the National Osteopathic Honor Society. He was awarded the Arnold P. Gold Foundation Humanism and Excellence in Teaching Award while serving as a clinical instructor in orthopaedics at Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine.
A native of West Virginia, he attended Fairmont State College, receiving a bachelor’s degree in biology, graduating cum laude and was a member of the Dean’s List and Beta Beta Beta Honor Society. He also played varsity football, and currently serves as a Board of Governor’s member for Fairmont State University and is also a team physician for their sports teams. Dr. Courtney is the Bridgeport High School wrestling coach. He enjoys spending time with his family, sports and outdoor activities.
