Dr. Kirstina Olson is chief of Foot and Ankle Surgery at the UCSF Orthopaedic Institute. She treats all conditions of the foot and ankle, including arthritis, bunions, flat feet, fractures and tendon disorders, and performs a wide range of procedures from minimally invasive surgery to complex reconstructions. Her goal is to offer treatment options that enable patients to return to a high level of function and improve overall quality of life.
In her research, Olson has studied tendons and how to stimulate healing, flatfoot reconstructions and implants to repair fractures of the foot. She earned a medical degree at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, completed a residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Chicago Medical Center, and completed a foot and ankle fellowship at the world-renowned OrthoCarolina Foot & Ankle Institute in Charlotte, N.C. She is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery, American Medical Women's Association, American Orthopaedic Association's Emerging Leaders Program, American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society and Ruth Jackson Orthopaedic Society. Olson is an assistant professor in residence at UCSF.
