Dr. Johnston was born and raised outside of Youngstown, Ohio. He attended John Carroll University where he majored in Biology and was a 3 year starter on the Varsity Football team. He went on to medical school at Northeast Ohio Medical University. He completed orthopaedic surgery residency at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, where he participated in the care of several professional sports teams, including the Cleveland Indians, Browns, and Cavaliers. He was also resident team physician for St. Edward's High School. Following residency, he completed a sports medicine fellowship with the Santa Monica Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Group, part of the Kerlan Jobe Institute. During his fellowship, he assisted in the care of the U.S. Men's and Women's National Soccer teams, the LA Galaxy of Major League Soccer, Pepperdine University, and numerous high schools.
Dr. Johnston specializes in arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder, hip, and knee. He also specializes in shoulder, hip, and knee replacement surgery.
