A native of Kalamazoo, Michigan, he completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan majoring in Honors Chemistry and Cellular & Molecular Biology. He received his medical doctorate also from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Dr. Austin completed his internship and his residency in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Michigan Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. His post graduate training included a fellowship at the Cincinnati Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center, specializing in knee and shoulder arthroscopy and open procedures. He joined California Orthopaedic Institute in 2017.
