Dr. Daniel Nelson is fellowship trained in Adult Reconstruction/Joint Replacement at the Southern Joint Replacement Institute/Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. He earned his medical degree from the Sanford School of Medicine of the University of South Dakota.
Utilizing his fellowship training in joint replacement surgery, Dr. Nelson focuses on treating patients with hip and knee conditions, including replacements, revisions, fractures and infections. He also treats patients with other orthopaedic injuries and conditions, including orthopaedic trauma.
Dr. Nelson is a board-certified doctor and also a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons. He has also received provider certification in ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support), BLS (Basic Life Support) and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support). Dr. Nelson is a clinical assistant professor of surgery at USD Sanford School of Medicine.
Dr. Nelson grew up on a farm South Dakota. Dr. Nelson, his wife and three children are pleased to return to the area to begin his medical practice. Dr. Nelson also enjoys golf, pheasant hunting, and watching high school, college and professional basketball and football.
