Dr. Weidner is a board certified fellowship trained orthopedic surgeon with a subspeciality focus in hip and knee joint replacements. He has a particular interest in minimally invasive and muscle sparing joint replacement surgery. One of his focuses is using the direct anterior approach for hip replacement. This procedure allows for a quicker recovery with less pain and no postoperative precautions compared to more traditional methods of hip replacement. He also specializes in robotic-assisted partial and total knee replacements (MAKOplasty®) which can allow for more precise component implantation and ligament balance compared to traditional knee replacement surgery.
Dr. Weidner is a native of Pittsburgh, PA and received his B.A. in mathematical economics from Brown University where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. He went on to earn his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in Philadelphia before completing his orthopaedic residency at Mount Sinai St. Luke's Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York City. Upon completion of his residency he pursued one extra year of subspeciality training in hip and knee replacement surgery at the Anderson Orthopaedic Clinic. He is proud to have scored in the 94th percentile on Part I of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons examination.
