Dr.Nolan is an Active Fellow of the American Academy of the Orthopedic Surgeons, Immediate Past President of the Orthopedic Society of Oklahoma, a Leadership Fellow with the Oklahoma County Medical Society, Associate member of the American Shoulder and Elbow surgeons, and Emerging Leader with the American Orthopedic Association. She serves on committees within the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons, American Orthopedic Association, and Ruth Jackson Orthopedic Society, and is a faculty sponsor for the Perry Outreach Program and Medical Student Outreach Program. She also serves as Assistant Editor for the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Arthroplasty, Associate Editor for the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery and Consultant Reviewer and Social Media Editor for the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery.
She recently was honored to be selected as Oklahoma Representative to the Board of Councilors of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Her clinical interests include all types of problems affecting the shoulder and elbow, with a special interest in complex problems. The combination of the European and American fellowships give her unique and extensive training in newer techniques and implants in Shoulder and Elbow Surgery. This includes the Reverse Total Shoulder Replacement , which has been performed in Europe for over 20 years, but received FDA approval for use in the US only in 2004.
Dr.Nolan’s research interest include clinical outcomes of Total Shoulder and Reverse Total Shoulder Replacement surgeries, as well as biomechanical wear properties and durability of these type of joint replacements, shoulder and elbow trauma, shoulder instability, rotator cuff tears, and resident education.
As Clinical Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery, Dr.Nolan is actively involved in teaching with the OU College of Medicine Orthopaedic Surgery Residents and Students.
