Dr. Steven Wardell is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in hip and knee surgery—specifically joint reconstruction and replacement, artificial joint revision surgery, and arthroscopic surgery. He is an expert in the latest advancements in orthopaedics, including minimally invasive surgery, computer-assisted joint replacement navigation, and muscle-sparing joint replacements. These technologies often yield great benefits for his patients, particularly less scarring and a faster recovery time. Dr. Wardell is also certified and trained in MAKO Robotic partial and total knee replacement. These computer-assisted joint replacements make for extremely precise and accurate procedures, often with more successful results.
Dr. Wardell is a native of Illinois. He was born in Oak Park, received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and his M.D. from The University of Illinois College of Medicine at Rockford. He completed his Orthopaedic Surgery Residency at Northwestern University, and then moved to Boston to complete a year of fellowship training in Adult Reconstructive Surgery at New England Baptist Hospital at Tufts University Medical School. He joined Parkview Orthopaedic Group in 1996.
Dr. Wardell has been involved in several research publications and has presented his work nationally at orthopaedic surgery conferences. He has contributed to book chapters discussing knee and hip surgery and revisions, and he has also served as an instructor for courses in hip and knee arthroplasty.
He is currently accepting new patients in Palos Heights and Mokena.
